The design brief for this project was to create a residential house that captures the beauty and essence of the surrounding natural environment while incorporating sustainable design principles. The site presented a unique challenge as it was steeply sloped, but also offered stunning panoramic views of the nearby mountain range.

The solution was to design a series of tiered levels that followed the natural contours of the site, creating a seamless transition between the built environment and the surrounding landscape. The main living areas were positioned on the uppermost level to take advantage of the stunning views, while the lower levels were reserved for private bedrooms and guest accommodations.

The exterior of the house is clad in natural stone and wood, which blend harmoniously with the surrounding environment. Large picture windows and sliding glass doors flood the interior with natural light and allow for passive solar heating and ventilation.

The interior of the house is designed to be open and spacious, with a focus on clean lines and natural materials. The centrepiece of the living area is a double-sided fireplace that provides warmth and ambiance to both the living room and dining room.

In keeping with the sustainable design principles, the house incorporates a range of energy-efficient features such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and a greywater recycling system. The landscaping is designed to be drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, with native plants and a naturalized pond.

Overall, this residential house is a stunning example of how innovative design can seamlessly integrate with the natural environment while incorporating sustainable practices.
